Woof. It's HOT.

Good thing you have a pool! We're here to help you make sure it's up to the task of keeping you cool when temperatures are at their hottest.

Whether you're managing a commercial aquatic facility that's seeing increased traffic during a heatwave or just trying to chill in your backyard, our premium pool maintenance and management services can take a lot of these tasks off your mind -- just contact us to get started!  But if you're taking care of daily pool tasks on your own or you want a window into what our techs are doing when they visit, check out these tips for caring for your pool during a heatwave:

High temperatures cause quicker evaporation. Watch your water level and augment when it's low -- or take that task off your mind with an autofill system that'll top your pool up as needed. Test your pool water daily to monitor pH and chlorine levels. Add chlorine stabilizer as needed. (It's a good idea to keep a supply of essential chemicals on hand, but whenever you need any, we ship same-day or next-day to most markets -- often for free!)

Algae and bacteria love balmy weather. You'll need to sanitize your pool with a shock treatment more frequently than you otherwise would to keep the water healthy and algae-free.  Use a preventive algaecide regularly to keep algae at bay.

Run your pool pump for longer periods to ensure proper filtration and circulation of water and discourage algae growth and bacteria. Clean or backwash the filter more frequently to handle increased debris and contaminants caused by increased pool use.

Skim the pool daily to remove debris (leaves, bugs, etc.) that can introduce bacteria and algae.

Brush walls and floor to prevent algae buildup, especially in shaded areas and corners. (Make sure you have the best tool for your pool with our brushes and scrubbers.)

Conserve water and keep water temps cooler by covering the pool when it's not in use. Make it easy with an automatic cover tailor-made for your pool.

If your pool cover needs some help keeping water temperatures comfortable and refreshing, use shades to minimize direct sunlight on the water. Consider a pool cooler or aerator to lower the water temperature if it gets too warm.

Poolblu's premium residential and aquatic property management services take these tasks off your plate, no matter what your pool needs. Our systems automatically measure and control water chemistry on a minute-by-minute basis, communicating system performance to our customer care center and to our maintenance teams, who are out and about all day every day doing the housekeeping (er, poolkeeping), backwashing, and equipment servicing.
